Stef Cuyckens was born in Leuven (Belgium) in 2001.
He received his M.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from KU Leuven in 2024. The subject of his Master's thesis was "Hardware Optimizations for iEEG Seizure Detection with Sparse Distributed Binary Hyperdimensional Computing".
He joined MICAS as a research assistant in October 2024 to pursue a Ph.D. degree under the guidance of prof. Marian Verhelst on heterogeneous multi-processors for continual learning at the edge.
Received the Gold Leaf Certificate for being in top 10% of papers accepted at the PRIME 2025 conference for his publication titled: "iEEG Seizure Detection with a Sparse Hyperdimensional Computing Accelerator".
