Career overview

Stijn Ceuppens was born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1987.

He received his B.Sc. and his M.Sc. in physics at the University of Antwerp in 2009 and 2011 respectively. The subject of his master thesis was “Vortex configurations in two-component condensates” and he performed an internship at KU Leuven titled “The ratchet effect in a superconducting MoGe-film". In 2012, Stijn received his teacher degree at the same university.

From 2012 until 2014, Stijn studied quantum turbulence in exciton-polariton condensates and worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Antwerp.

From 2015 until 2019, he worked on his PhD titled “Learning of physics and mathematics concepts in an integrated STEM-curriculum” at KU Leuven as part of the STEM@school project to study integrated STEM (science, technology, mathematics and engineering) in education.

Stijn now works at ESAT-MICAS at KU Leuven as a postdoc on the “iSTEM inkleuren” project supporting teachers in secondary education to design iSTEM learning materials.
