The emergence of advanced data-intensive applications has increased the demand for high-speed communication. Thanks to the large available bandwidth (BW) D-band (110-170 GHz) communication systems have attracted research interest in the last decade. At these frequencies the influence of Power Amplifiers (PAs) on the overall performance and efficiency is dramatic.
CMOS technologies, when compared to III-V technologies, present an attractive solution due to their cost-effectiveness, which will be crucial to enable high yield mm-wave services and infrastructures. However, RF performance has not improved with ultra-scaled CMOS nodes, posing several design challenges that will be discussed - together with their possible solutions -during this seminar.
