We have developed the first perforated multimodal CMOS MEA designed for 3D cell tissue interfacing. This device supports low-noise high-resolution recording, stimulation, and impedance spectroscopy (EIS) across seven modalities. Fabricated using 130nm CMOS technology, the MEA contains a scalable 256-island mesh with multiplexed operation, achieving low input-referred noise (9.1±1.5μVrms, 300Hz-10kHz) and low power consumption (11.3μW per island). In vitro tests with cardiomyocytes have shown that it can accurately map network propagation and perform intracellular recordings after voltage stimulation.
